DWI Accident Arrest

On January 25th, 2018 at 8:32 PM, Tompkins County Sheriff's Deputies, assisted by the New York State Police responded to the 1300 block of Mecklenburg Road in the Town of Ithaca for a personal injury motor vehicle accident.  Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle exit the roadway and crash into a house.

Deputies arrived to find the home owner ok however the driver of the vehicle had fled from the scene.  During the course of the investigation, Deputies learned that the driver, later identified as Mark S. Ward, age 48 of Newfield, NY had fled from the scene and was in an altercation at Chucks Mobil in the City of Ithaca.  Deputies responded and interviewed Ward which resulted in Wards arrest from Driving While Intoxicated.

Ward has been charged with Driving While Intoxicated (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .08% or Greater (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (Unclassified Misdemeanor), Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), Consumption/Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle (Violation), Failure to Keep Right (Violation), Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident (Violation), Failure to use Designated Lane (Violation), Moving From Lane Unsafely (Violation) and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana (Violation).

Ward was processed and released on appearance ticket and ordered to appear at the Town of Ithaca Court on February 22nd, 2018 at 9:00 AM.
