Triphammer Road in the Town of Lansing for a report of a personal injury motor vehicle accident.  Deputies located a Volkswagen Tiguan and a Mitsubishi Eclipse; both with major damage that were involved in the collision.

The initial investigation into the motor vehicle accident indicates that speed was a factor.  The driver of the Mitsubishi Eclipse appeared to have been traveling north bound on N. Triphammer Road at a high rate of speed when the operator lost control of the vehicle as it veered into the south bound lane of N. Triphammer Road.  The driver of the Volkswagen Tiguan appeared to have been traveling south bound on N. Triphammer Road when the Mitsubishi Eclipse veered into their lane of travel.  The point of impact appeared to have occurred in the south bound lane of N. Triphammer Road.  The Volkswagen Tiguan came to rest on the roadway with heavy front end damage while the Mitsubishi Eclipse continued into the front yard of a residence striking a tree.

The driver and sole occupant of the Volkswagen Tiguan had only minor injuries and were transported later that evening to a local hospital for treatment.  The operator and sole occupant of the Mitsubishi Eclipse was transported from the scene to Robert Packer Hospital however succumbed to their injuries sustained during the accident the following day.

The names of the drivers will not be released at this time.  The Sheriff's Office is continuing this investigation and no citations/charges have been issued.  The members of the Sheriff's Office offer their condolences to the operator and their family who passed away as the result of this accident.
