DWAI Drug Arrest

On June 17th, 2018 at about 2:05 PM, deputies from the Tompkins County Sheriff's Office were traveling on Meadow Street in the City of Ithaca on routine patrol. Deputies observed a vehicle unsafely move over 3 three lanes of traffic, strike a curb, and unsafely back into traffic. After stopping the vehicle, they identified the driver as ADAM R SMITH (Age 35 of Ithaca).

SMITH was found to be impaired by some type of drug and subsequently arrested for Driving While Ability Impaired By Drugs. SMITH had 2 prior DWI related convictions, which made this arrest a felony. SMITH refused to submit to a chemical or blood test.  SMITH was charged with Moved From Lane Unsafely, Unsafe Backing, and Driving While Impaired by Drugs (D Felony). SMITH was arraigned in the City of Ithaca Court and remanded to the jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 insured bond.
