Legislature Chair Robertson Pays Tribute, Following the Death of Rep. Louise Slaughter

Friday, March 16, 2018

Tompkins County Legislature Chair Martha Robertson issued a statement of tribute and condolence following the death of Upstate Congresswoman Louise Slaughter early today

At age 88, Representative Slaughter was the oldest sitting member of Congress and was serving her 16th term in the House of Representatives, representing the Rochester area.

Chair Robertson said:

“We mourn the passing of Congresswoman Louise Slaughter, who was a pioneer for women and a champion for all of Upstate New York. Known to her constituents simply as ‘Louise,’ her voice was always strong and in support of our region and working families across America.

“Representing the hometown of Susan B. Anthony, Congresswoman Slaughter has inspired New York women and girls for decades. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family, and her community.”
