Legislature Accepts Grant for Airport Snow Removal Equipment

Monday, September 12, 2016

At a brief special meeting, the Legislature authorized acceptance of a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Grant to purchase new snow removal equipment for Ithaca Tompkins Regional Airport. The vote was unanimous, with Legislator Rich John excused.

The FAA grant will support 90% of the $797,000 acquisition, New York State 5%, and the remaining 5% ($39,850) to come from Airport passenger fee charges.

The matter was considered in special session, since the grant could not formally be accepted at the Legislature’s last regular meeting, since the grant had not been received at that time.
