Don't Forget! Mail Your Census Form By Friday, April 16!

Thursday, April 15, 2010
The County's 2010 Census Committee is reminding residents to get their completed 2010 Census forms in the mail by tomorrow--'Friday, April 16.

If Census forms are not mailing by tomorrow, the local Census Office in Elmira notes that the address will be considered non-responsive. A census worker will visit any address whose form is not mailed by that date to obtain the information in person.

"For Tompkins County, it's important for everyone to be counted," says County Legislator Pam Mackesey, chair of the county's 2010 Census Complete Count Committee. "Take just a few minutes to complete the brief, 10-question form and get it into the mail by Friday." As of today, Tompkins County census participation rate stands at 70%

For anyone who did not receive or has misplaced the census form, forms are available at census Questionnaire Assistance Centers and Be Counted sites throughout Tompkins County. For information on these sites, click HERE to visit the County"s Census web site, or call 2-1-1.

The local census office may be reached by calling 607-735-5440.
