Community Meeting on the 2011 County Budget - Thursday, August 19

Thursday, August 12, 2010
A community meeting to discuss next year's County budget is coming up Thursday evening, August 19. The meeting will be held at the Cooperative Extension Building, Room A, at 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The third in a series of town hall meetings on the 2011 County budget, the session is sponsored by the Fall Creek Neighborhood Association and County Legislator Kathy Luz Herrera (District 5). The session is free and open to the public, and anyone is encouraged to attend.

The session will provide citizens the opportunity to learn about the fiscal challenges the County faces as it prepares for 2011 and to advise regarding how the County should respond.

"I'm pleased that we are convening this town hall meeting and hope for a good turnout," says Legislator Luz Herrera. "These essential conversations about the budget process and our community funding priorities take on added emphasis in these times of economic turmoil. Please don't hesitate to contact me at with comments or questions about this year's Tompkins County Budget and process."

Similar legislator-sponsored community meetings on the budget have already been held in the Towns of Lansing and Ithaca.

For more information on the upcoming community meeting, contact Legislator Luz Herrera at 273-8169 (or via e-mail at the address above) or Tompkins County Public Information at 274-5555.
