UPDATE - PRESENTATION POSTPONED. Committee Meeting Monday to Feature Discussion of Cayuga Power Plant

Monday, October 22, 2018

Please be advised that today's scheduled discussion before the Legislature's Planning, Development and Environmental Quality Committee regarding the Cayuga Power Plant has been postponed.  Committee Chair Anna Kelles advises that the presentation will be rescheduled for a later meeting of the committee.

Original text below of item issued 10-19/18:

The Planning, Development, and Environmental Quality Committee of the County Legislature meets Monday, October 22nd, 3:00 p.m., at Legislature Chambers, located in the Governor Daniel D. Tompkins Building, 121 E. Court Street, Ithaca.

Among items on the agenda will be a discussion of the Cayuga Power Plant with Jerry Goodenough, Chief Operating Officer at Cayuga Operating Company, LLC.  Included in the discussion will be the company’s proposal to convert the coal-fired plant to natural gas, fueled initially by compressed natural gas (CNG) transported by truck.

Also discussed will be a proposed resolution that would urge the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to reject the company’s proposal and urge Governor Cuomo to support the plant’s transition to renewable energy and energy storage.

The agenda for the Committee’s October 22 meeting is posted at the Tompkins County website and may be reviewed at the following link:
