Chair Lane Expresses County’s Condolences Following Fatal Accident Involving TC3 Students

Thursday, July 20, 2017

Michael Lane, Chair of the Tompkins County Legislature, expressed the County’s deep sorrow and condolences, following a fatal early morning taxi van accident in Cortland County which involved eight Tompkins Cortland Community College students.

One of the students and the van driver were fatally injured, and the other seven students were hospitalized with injuries. The students are all members of the College’s Global Education program.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic event,” said Chairman Lane. “Our thoughts are with all of those at our Community College—its students, faculty, staff and administration—as they mourn and deal with this tragic situation, as well as with the students directly affected and their families, many of whom are from locations far away from Tompkins County.”

Tompkins Cortland Community College cancelled all day and evening classes for today.
