Applications for Fall 2018 Tourism Grant funding due Sept. 11th. August 21st Grant Workshop for new and returning applicants

Does your organization have an idea for a new project with strong potential to draw visitors from outside Tompkins County? Do you host an event that celebrates local culture in ways that are informative, educational and fun?  If so, consider applying for financial support from the Tompkins County Tourism Program!

Funds are currently available in the following two grant categories:

New Tourism Initiative Grants are for projects that have occurred less than three years in a row and that support implementation of the County’s Strategic Tourism Plan. Maximum award: $25,000

Community Celebrations Grants assist events and programs endorsed by a municipality that are free and open to all and planned by community members as a benefit to the community. Maximum award: $2,000.

All applications are due online by noon, Tuesday, September 11, 2018. Grant guidelines and applications are available at www.tompkinscountyny.gov/tourism.

Interested in applying but not sure how to get started?

Tourism program staff and grant administrators will be hosting a grant application workshop Tuesday, Aug. 21st, 3:30-5:00pm at the Tompkins County Public Library, 101 E. Green St, Ithaca, NY. The workshop is free and open to all. RSVP to tourism@tompkins-co.org.

Funded through local hotel room occupancy taxes, County Tourism Program grants have supported the activities of dozens of local organizations contributing to area tourism and community vitality. In 2016 tourism in Tompkins County supported 3,500 local jobs, generated $198 million in visitor spending and more than $14.9 million in local tax revenues.
