Another Community Meeting on the 2012 County Budget - Thursday, August 18

Monday, August 15, 2011
A community meeting to discuss next year's County budget is coming up in the City of Ithaca this Thursday, August 18. The meeting will be held at the Cooperative Extension Building, Room B, at 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca, beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The fourth in a series of town hall meetings on the 2012 budget, the session is sponsored by the Fall Creek Neighborhood Association and County Legislators Kathy Luz Herrera (District 5) and Leslyn McBean-Clairborne (District 2). The session is free and open to the public, and anyone is encouraged to attend.

The session will provide citizens the opportunity to learn about the fiscal challenges the County faces as it prepares for 2012 and to advise legislators on how the County should respond.

Similar legislator-sponsored community meetings on the budget have already been held in the Towns of Lansing, Dryden, and Ithaca. At least four more meetings are scheduled, as follows:

Wednesday, August 24
Cayuga Heights Fire Station
Sponsored by Legislators Dooley Kiefer (District 10) and Peter Stein (District 11)

Wednesday, August 31
Linderman Creek Community Room (West Hill)
Sponsored by Legislators Will Burbank (District 12) and Pam Mackesey (District1)

Thursday, September 1 South Hill Church of the Nazarene (Grandview Avenue)
Sponsored by Legislators Will Burbank (District 12), Pam Mackesey (District 1), and Frank Proto (District 7)

Thursday, September 8
Groton Town Hall
Sponsored by Legislator Brian Robison (District 9)

All of the meetings will begin at 7:00 p.m. More legislator-sponsored sessions may be added in the fall, in addition to the Legislature's annual Community Budget Forum September 26 at the Tompkins County Public Library Borg Warner Room.
