> Human Rights - 4Kidz

December 10th is International Human Rights Day, which serves to commemorate the Universal Declaration of Human Rights signed by Eleanor Roosevelt and representatives of member states of the United Nations in 1948.  This date was set aside by nations around the world to increase awareness about human rights everywhere.

Human Rights 4Kidz Program has been developed to introduce children to a plain language version of the 30 Articles of the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights and basic themes related to human rights, difference, and respect for others.  Activities may include:  engaged reading, creation of a Human Rights chain, matching games, human rights word search and vocabulary, role playing, and interactive story-telling.

The purpose of the project is to acquaint children with the existence of Human Rights Day, its significance, and that it is celebrated around the globe by adults and children alike, to give children a basic understanding of their own human rights and the rights of others, and to lay a foundation for future human rights educational initiatives.
