Flu Reported in Tompkins County

(ITHACA, NY, January 16, 2014) — The Tompkins County Health Department continues to welcome walk-ins for flu vaccination for children and adults Monday through Friday through January 31 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Appointments may also be made by calling (607) 274-6616.

Seasonal flu continues to circulate in our community and across New York State with cases reported in 55 of 57 counties and all 5 boroughs of New York City for the week ending January 16, 2014.

The Tompkins County Health Department urges everyone (6 months of age and above) to get the flu vaccine if they haven’t already. It’s not too late. Community members should contact their medical providers or call the Health Department at (607) 274-6616.

“Get vaccinated, wash your hands frequently, cover sneezes and coughs, and stay home if you’re sick”, states Karen Bishop, Community Health Nurse Supervisor.
