Update: Swine Influenza A (H1N1)

Ithaca, NY 14850 (May 8, 2009)

 

    • No confirmed cases in Tompkins County as of Noon, May 8, 2009.
    • NYSDOH Health Advisory: Update #4 dated May 7, 2009 (17 page document)  can be found on the HAN (Health Alert Network). If you would like us to fax this document to your office, please call 274-6604.
    •  Enclosed please find page 6 of this current Health Advisory, “Testing and Treatment Algorithm from NYSDOH” which we adapted to include local health department contact information.
    • Continue to consult with Karen Bishop or Carol Mohler at 274-6604 for any suspect cases to determine if testing for H1N1 is recommended. Local health department approval of lab specimen submissions to Wadsworth Laboratory is still required.
    • We continue to conduct surveillance for influenza-like illness with fever of 100 degrees F or higher with local medical providers, schools, daycare and childcare facilities, and long-term facilities. Please continue to report influenza-like illness to Karen Bishop or Carol Mohler at 274-6604.
    • Future updates will be forwarded to you as needed.
