District Attorney Gwen Wilkinson announced today that Peter J. Mesko, 22, formerly of 210 Thurston Avenue, Ithaca, was sentenced in Tompkins County Court to five years in state prison and thirteen years post-release supervision.

 

Mesko, formerly a Cornell student, was convicted of unlawfully entering the victim’s bedroom while she was asleep and engaging in sexual contact. Both charges are violent felonies. The jury deadlocked on the remaining charge of First Degree Rape. Judge Cassidy declared a mistrial as to that charge.

Mr. Mesko received the same sentence to run concurrently on both charges. The Court also issued a thirteen-year order of protection.

 

Mr. Mesko will be required to register as a sex offender.

Assistant District Attorney Wendy Franklin prosecuted the case. Albany attorneys William Dreyer and Lauren Owens of Dreyer Boyajian, LLP represented Mr. Mesko. The Hon. Joseph R. Cassidy presided.

 

The Ithaca Police Department and the Cornell Police conducted the investigation
