> Tompkins County Community Foundation

The Community Foundation of Tompkins County is made up of four distinct awarding bodies: The Howland Fund, the Womens Fund, the Rosen Library Fund, and a fund that changes every fall. Read more about each of these funds below. Average grants amount is around $3000.

 

The Howland Foundation of the Community Foundation of Tompkins County is an annual grantor that works in the areas of  aging, youth, animal welfare, and environmental preservation.  At least one grant per area of focus is awarded annually. In 2011 over $52,000 in grants was distributed. That year, Tompkins Community Action was awarded a grant for a youth job training program.

Prospective applicants are invited to a recommended, though NOT required, meeting to ask questions and help assist you in developing your application. Check online for more information.

The Community Foundation of Tompkins County Women’s Fund promotes educational, economic, and social equality by enabling women to achieve economic self-sufficiency, and by helping to provide the necessary resources for women’s health and basic needs. In 2011, $19,000 was awarded to 11 organizations, including the Women’s Opportunity Center assist in job training.

The Rosen Library Fund provides grants through the Community Foundation of Tompkins County to 33 public libraries in the 5 counties of the Finger Lakes Library System. Prior grants have been awarded for programming and materials.

 In 2011, over $70,000 was awarded to 16 regional libraries. (List of prior awards)
